Jana Kühne

Jana Kühne is this year’s recipient of the CACT Award for Sculpture, and is currently studying at the Art Academy. She says: “My practice engages with ideas about nature, environment, and landscape through drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, and installation. The central theme is that of rewilding: the abandonment of analytical tools and intellectual knowledge in favour of a physical, emotional, and spiritual engagement with the natural world. Rewilding also stands for a sort of undoing: an unlearning of societal norms and unravelling of industrial processes which is particularly pertinent in the context of the climate emergency that requires us to unlearn harmful behaviours and establish more sustainable ways.”
