Auto-Italia South East is a project developed between Amanda Dennis, Rachel Pimm and Kate Cooper. We started the project to continue to work after college with urgency, playfulness and a consideration for the social context we make work in and how this develops in the future. We wanted to be engaged in contemporary discourse with our peers, and to push each other to question how young artists operate. We consider this project to be an extension to our individual practices and we invite collaborations with artists and other disciplines for studio projects and public exhibitions- one per month.
Our current space is on the Old Kent Road in Peckham, this is the second in a series of temporary sites. Working with a temporary space gives us access to unusually large space to facilitate ambitious work. The project is not rooted to one building but to the growing network of people involved so can continue to work in new territories, both physical and virtual.
